Sights and Sounds of Miami
When planning a trip to Miami, there’s no better way to cruise the city than with the top down and the stereo up. But there are so many things to do and places to see that it's tough to figure where to start your adventure. Here are just a few suggestions to get you started:
- South Beach. Also called “The American Riviera,” South Beach is known for its legendary shopping, dining, exotic beaches, people-watching and wild nightlife. Packed with bars, celebrities and topless beaches, this place is definitely the place for the young, or the young at heart.
- Art Deco District. South Beach isn't all about the partying; it also boasts the beautiful Art Deco District – the largest concentration of 1920s and 1930s resort architecture in America. Imagine cruising along in your convertible, checking out the beautiful, brightly colored buildings along the way. It's even on the National Register of Historic Places. This is also a perfect cruising destination for the art lover because it's lined with museums, a beautiful botanical garden and entertainment venues like the Jackie Gleason Theater.
- National Parks. Aside from the great Miami beaches, there are dozens of attractions to travel to in your convertible. Biscayne National Park offers some of the best scuba diving and snorkeling in the country. Or if you want to keep your head above water, you can rent kayaks or take a glass-bottomed boat tour of the bay. The nearby Everglades National Park also boasts visitor centers and a number of trails, including Anhinga Trail, a big draw for bird-watchers. Beware of those mosquitoes, though!
- Sports. Sports fans looking for a great vacation won't be disappointed. Check out a Dolphins game or head to the American Airlines Arena for a little NBA action with the Miami Heat. Or grab some peanuts and crackerjacks as you take in a Marlins game. If hockey's your thing, don’t miss the Florida Panthers.
These amazing sights are just the beginning…so put the top down, turn up the stereo, and get ready for an adventure you won’t soon forget.
