TULSA, Okla. – Thrifty Car Rental today announced it would eliminate base commissions paid to travel agencies on individually-negotiated corporate and government rate programs effective April 22, 2002.
The change does not affect commissions paid on leisure, association, or other non-negotiated corporate rentals. Thrifty will maintain current commission levels with contracted agencies on both the government and corporate rates.
The commission change applies to agencies worldwide for customers traveling in the U.S. or Canada. Travel agents in Canada and the U.S. who book customers on outbound rentals with negotiated fees will not be paid commission.
According to the company, the elimination of this commission category is necessary to retain its competitive posture within the car rental industry.
Look to Book®, the company's travel agent loyalty program has not changed. Details on Look to Book are available to agents by visiting www.THRIFTY.com and clicking the "Travel Agent" icon.
