Thrifty launches Honeymoondisasters.com website in conjunction with new contest

Web surfers asked to guess latest winner, enter 2002 contest

TULSA, Okla. -"It was a honeymoon I’ll never forget . . . no matter how hard I try." Thrifty Car Rental has heard those words many times. For the last eight years, Thrifty has rescued honeymooners from the jaws of disaster by awarding those with the best tales of post-nuptial horror, a second honeymoon in its annual Honeymoon Disasters^® Contest.

To celebrate eight successful years of the contest, Thrifty is launching a dedicated web site at www.honeymoondisasters.com . Web surfers are invited to see if they can pick this year’s national contest winner from among the Top 3 entries as selected by the company’s employees. Consumers can cast their vote for the top prize prior to the winner being revealed on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2001.

Are You Among the Suffering?

Thrifty wants to send you on the second honeymoon you would like to have experienced the first time! All you have to do is tell us about your disastrous honeymoon (and don't spare the details). You could win a romantic, sun-drenched second honeymoon to the Cayman Islands including roundtrip airfare on Cayman Airways, an ocean view villa for six nights at Villas of the Galleon , six day car rental and $1,000 cash from Thrifty Car Rental . Also included in the prize is a special tour package with:

• an Atlantis Submarine excursion;
• a $200 gift certificate to the Hyatt Regency Grand Cayman Rum Point Restaurant;
• tickets to the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Gardens;
• a half-day snorkel excursion from Captain Marvin's Watersports ; and

The new Internet site www.honeymoondisasters.com, devoted to Thrifty's annual Honeymoon Disasters contest, features stories and photographs from previous contests, an online contest entry form, travel-related web site links and other interactive features. The site is also accessible through www.thrifty.com .

From February 5 through February 14, visitors to the site will be able to vote for their favorite story, one of which is the 2001 winner as already selected by the employees of Thrifty Car Rental’s Headquarters. The Grand Prize Winner will be announced on Valentine's Day (February 14th).

Customers can also enter next year's contest by submitting their story to Honeymoon Disasters Contest 2002, c/o Thrifty Car Rental, CIMS 1020, P.O. Box 35250, Tulsa, OK 74153-0250. Entries not made on-line must include daytime and evening phone numbers, address, city, state and zip code and must be postmarked no later than Sept. 30, 2001.
