Omaha

Nebraska's largest city is Omaha, which is where you'll find Omaha Eppley Airfield. The Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium is a fun place to visit for families where you can see North America's biggest cat complex, and indoor rainforest called the Lied Jungle, an indoor desert and "Kingdoms of the Night," a nocturnal exhibit and indoor swamp. Nature lovers will enjoy the Lauritzen Gardens where you can marvel at four-season plants in a rose garden, hosta garden, herb garden, children's garden and more. Strolling through this space will bring a sense of serene calm away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Relax and revel in the mix of floral scents.

Kearney

This Nebraska city is home to the Classic Car Collection with more than 130 vehicles on display and displays the evolution of automobiles. With reasonable admission prices - just $8 for adults, $4 for kids age 6 to 15 and children 5 and younger are free - this family-fun experience won't break the bank. Youngsters will also love KidZone, the city's children's museum in Kearney. Exhibits are interactive so everyone can get hands-on while learning and having a blast together.

Grand Island

After arriving at Grand Island - Central Nebraska Regional Airport, take some time to unpack then get to exploring the city. If you want to hit the links, head to Jackrabbit Run Golf Course to play the 18 holes on this championship course. If  you need to up your game, you can even take lessons here. During warm weather months, the family will have a blast at Island Oasis, a 6-acre water park. Hit the wave pool, relax in the 750-foot lazy river or brave the various water slides for a bit of a thrill.

Hastings

Hastings is famous as the city where Kool-Aid was invented back in 1927, and the residents honor this with the annual Kool-Aid Days festival every August. If you're visiting during this month, be sure to check it out! Learn about the history of the city and Nebraska at the Hastings Museum. Learn about the evolution of inhabitants here as well as native wildlife and more about Kool-Aid. There's even a domed planetarium!
