The Seattle Public Library system has the highest percentage of library card-holders per capita in the U.S. and the highest percentage of residents with at least a college degree. Husky Stadium
The University of Washington Huskies call this newly renovated stadium home. The latest major expansion was completed before the 2013 season, when fans were thrilled to enter their new territory and cheer on the team they love. The stadium has seen its 72,500 seats fill to capacity numerous times, including for the 1992 game against Nebraska when the Huskies won their 17th consecutive game. ESPN measured the noise level at a whopping 130 decibels, comparable to being 100 feet away from a Jet that is accelerating. Drive your Seattle rental car to tailgate for a game or you could even drive a boat! Boat moorings are available on Union Bay in Lake Washington for those who prefer to tailgate on the water. Seattle Great Wheel
Visit this 175 foot tall Ferris wheel, the largest observation wheel on the west coast, for incredible views of Elliott Bay. Businessman Hal Griffith wanted a Ferris wheel in the city for 30 years and his dream became reality with the opening of his Great Wheel in 2012. With fully-enclosed gondolas and a waiting area that is protected from the rain, the Wheel runs year-round. If you are looking for a particularly plush experience be sure to get in cabin No.42, the VIP cabin. The leather bucket seats, glass bottom floor, and stereo system are as top of the line as a Ferris wheel car gets! Get in line and grab one of the 300 spots on this new Seattle icon.
Pike Place Market
Nine acres of farm fresh produce, crafts and artisanal goods and specialty foods? Yes, please! Keep your eyes peeled for Rachel the Piggy Bank, the bronze piggy that is the mascot of the Pike Place Market Foundation. Over 200 independent businesses and restaurants ply their wares at this over a century old market. From wine and cheese to fish and bread, vegetables and ceramics and jewelry there is so much to see here you may need the whole day!
