Welcome to Atlanta

Visitors to Atlanta will be in for a treat, as few cities can match its combination of history, culture and fun. Known as "Hot-lanta" for its high temperatures, there are several ways for visitors to enjoy themselves under the scorching Georgia sunshine. The city has several thriving sports teams, and locals are passionate about both professional and collegiate athletics. It is the home to media organizations such as CNN, and major brands like Coca-Cola. Atlanta has a vibrant entertainment and nightlife scene, and a rich music tradition. There is also plenty to learn while in Atlanta at the city's museums and historical landmarks.

Turner Field

Hop in your Atlanta rental car and make your way to Turner Field at 755 Hank Aaron Drive. The home of Major League Baseball's Atlanta Braves is a must-see summer destination. There's not a bad seat in the house, even with a capacity of more than 50,000. A plaza on the north side of the stadium showcases the team's history, including a statue and bust of the organization's greatest player, Hank Aaron. Inside, visitors will see a unique tradition in baseball called the Tomahawk Chop. The Turner Field scoreboard has a 27-foot-long neon-red tomahawk atop it, and when the Braves are doing well, it will raise up and down. Fans in the stands do the same motion with their arms, as the stadium swells with noise and excitement.

Martin Luther King Historic Site

All visitors to Atlanta should take their rental cars to 449 Auburn Ave. to learn about the life and work of Martin Luther King Jr. Guests can explore his childhood home, the church where he began his work in civil rights, a museum filled with papers and documents, and finally his crypt and final resting place. The site, which spans 23 acres and attracts more than 1 million visitors every year, is a celebration of Dr. King and all those who took part in the country's civil rights movement.

Stone Mountain Park

A drive in your Atlanta rental car to 1000 Robert E. Lee Blvd. in nearby Stone Mountain, Georgia, will be a terrific way to cap off your trip. History buffs will learn about the Civil War, as there is a monument to the leaders of the Confederate Army carved in to one of the mountains. There are also several trails and lookout points in the park, along with places to golf and fish. A mix of history and sightseeing, all while exploring the great outdoors, makes Stone Mountain Park an interesting location for everyone.
