Lost luggage has long been the bane of travelers existence - there's nothing worse than arriving at your destination only to find that you can't hop in your rental car and head to your hotel because your bags have been misplaced.

However, this unnecessary stressor may soon be a thing of the past. "Smart bags" are currently in development, and they carry a variety of sensors designed to help you keep track of your luggage or easily find it if it has been misplaced by the airline.

One such smart bag, Bag2Go, contains an RFID chip that allows travelers to check in their bag and link it to every stop on their business itinerary. You can even sync Bag2Go with your iPhone, so you can keep track of your luggage as it is loaded onto your flight.

Smart bags are still very much a technology of the future - Bag2Go is only in the early stages of development - but it certainly gives business travelers something to look forward to. Imagine the extra sightseeing you could do in car rentals if you weren't busy tracking down your lost luggage.
