When you're taking your long term car rental on a road trip, you may want to keep these tips in mind:
Keep your gas tank half full
You never know when you'll find yourself driving to the middle of nowhere for business travel. When there's a lot of highway between small towns, you're not likely to find many gas stations. Keep your tank at least half full to avoid getting stranded.
As the driver, you can't kick back and watch movies on your phone. Instead, consider subscribing to satellite radio or picking up some audio books at your local library. Listening to something will help keep your brain occupied and make sure you stay awake as well as entertain you.
Watch the weather
Even the best laid plans can be completely altered by inclement weather. Listen to the forecast on the radio or check it on your phone while you're at a rest stop. This way you won't find yourself headed towards a big storm.
Avoid cruise control
When you are driving along using cruise control for several hours, it can be easy to fall into a lull and stop paying attention to the road. Instead, don't use cruise. Relying on your brain to tell you when to push the gas and when to brake will keep you awake and make you less likely to have an accident.
