Stay organized when traveling for business

When you're leaving home, you never want to leave anything behind, so organization is key. If you're traveling for business, training and conferences, this is of the utmost importance. It's best to make sure you have everything you need before you go, but that's not where your attention to detail should end.
To prevent forgetting anything from a toothbrush to that hard drive with your presentation on it, be sure you make a list. It can be easy to forget something, anything when packing in a hurry, so you'll also want to get started ahead of time. Getting your things together right before you rush out the door to catch a flight is just setting yourself up for failure.
Once you've picked up your long term car rental, you'll want to maintain organization for the remainder of your trip. Even if you'll basically be living out of that vehicle, be sure to keep it tidy. No one will be impressed if they see you roll up in a car littered with fast food wrappers. Be sure to keep a map of the cities you're stopping in within reach at all times. You never know when a detour could interrupt the GPS.
