Helpful tips for navigating air travel

As a person who partakes in business travel, you likely spend a lot of time on planes. Flight can be a miserable or great experience, depending on unforeseen cancellations, weather delays and even booking confusion. Try these tips to have a positive air travel experience:

Book flights carefully
Have you ever accidentally booked a flight at the wrong time and ended up going through the major hassles of re-booking? Or have you ever thought you booked a non-stop flight only to find you have to spend over an hour on the tarmac three states away from your destination because you actually booked "direct?" It pays to be super vigilant about what flights you are booking. Always note if you're booking one way or round trip and watch out for those tricky direct flights. Just be sure you are fully aware of what you are getting before booking the ticket.

Try not to check your bags
Waiting for your luggage at the baggage claim can be a major pain. Checked bags have a chance to get lost or stolen. Once on the carousel, someone may even unintentionally take your bag, thinking it's theirs. Avoid these headaches by opting to bring your bag with you as a carry on. Stow a small suitcase in the overhead bin and a briefcase or purse under the seat in front of you. You'll know where they are at all times and be able to swiftly head to the car rental company.
