Choosing the right cars for business travel

Business travel is complicated enough without worrying about which type of car to rent. There are lots of different options to choose from, and depending on your budget, the car you select can make a major impact to your expense account when it's all said and done.
Here are three car rental questions to answer when making that choice:
How many people are going on the trip?
There is a huge difference between renting a car just for yourself versus finding a vehicle that will fit a large group. Look into the size of cars and check out reviews as well. Some cars may say they fit five people, but the backseat could be cramped with three full-sized adults, so a more spacious option would be better.
What are you bringing?
Along with people, luggage can take up a lot of space in rental cars. If everyone on the trip has just a small suitcase, then a lot of extra room isn't needed. However, if work equipment such as laptops and documents (or leisure equipment like golf clubs) are along for the ride as well, then a larger car or a van may be the best option.
Where are you going?
Studying a vehicle's gas mileage can make a major impact on your decision. For trips where you are just going from the airport car rental to a hotel and back, it doesn't matter as much. But for longer road trips that include a lot of highway driving, finding a vehicle that won't involve as many stops at the pump will be a money saver.
