Business travel can be a hectic and unnerving situation no matter how far you're traveling, whether it's across the country or around the globe. But those who go overseas for work are faced with a unique set of challenges. If you're traveling abroad for your job, consider these tips to make your trip as smooth as possible:

Stay connected overseas
Depending on your cell phone provider, you may not be able to get service in another country without setting up an international plan. Many companies allow you to sign up for temporary global service. If your network carrier isn't compatible with your destination's networks, you may have to purchase a local phone, which can actually end up being a cheaper option.

Utilize translation apps
Knowing the native tongue would be ideal, but it's not always possible. In these cases, download an app that translates words and phrases for you. Google Translate, iTranslate and Voice Translate Pro are among the most popular programs.

Pack the proper voltage adapters
Some countries have different outlet types, which means you'll need an adapter to be able to charge your laptop, tablet, phone and other devices. Certain adapters are intended for particular items - irons may require higher wattage than computers, for example - so consult with a salesperson when buying yours. You might also benefit from picking up an adapter for charging devices in car rentals.
