Planning an affordable Tulsa getaway

Tulsa may be known as the "Oil Capital of the World," but there's much more to this Oklahoma destination than fossil fuels. It's filled with rolling green hills, stunning displays of Art Deco architecture and exquisite shopping and dining options along Cherry Street. During your visit to T-Town, save some money by selecting one of the Tulsa rental cars available through Thrifty Car Rental, which offers Tulsa deals intended to make your vacation affordable. You can also keep your expenses down by taking advantage of these free and affordable attractions:

Philbrook Museum of Art

With a Tulsa car rental, museums and cultural institutions of the city are right at your fingertips. The Philbrook Museum of Art offers free admission on the second Saturday of each month between 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. It's situated on 23 acres of beautiful landscape brimming with lush gardens and outdoor exhibitions. Inside the historic building, you'll come across an extensive collection of unique and rare pieces by artists from around the globe. The American Art display is one of the highlights, featuring works by Asher Brown Durand, Robert Henri and Frederick Carl, among other artists from the 18th through 21st centuries.

Oxley Nature Center

Park your Tulsa car rental outside the gate at Mohawk Park for an exploration of the Oxley Nature Center. The site contains more than 9 miles of trails open to hikers, bikers and skaters. Before you start your nature adventure, stop by the Interpretive Building to see the intriguing exhibits, peruse the library and check out the wildlife viewing area. Here, you can also pick up a map that guides you through the park. Admission to the Interpretive Building is free, however, you have to pay $2 to get you and your guests access to the Mohawk Park trails.
