CALGARY AIRPORT, AB, CANADA

Visit Canada Olympic Park in Your Calgary Airport Rental Car

Calgary is known for being the first Canadian city to host the winter Olympic Games. But even if you don’t ski, there’s plenty to do in this cosmopolitan Cowtown. Once you land and pick up your Calgary Airport rental car, don’t miss the chance to see the sights and sounds of the city from atop the Calgary Tower, and then stop in at the Calgary Zoo and Calaway Park.

Calgary Tower
Take a deep breath and step out onto the glass observation deck at the top of the Calgary Tower for panoramic views of the city. At 525 feet, the tower is the world’s highest 360° observation deck, offering spectacular views of Calgary. A second observation level offers a snack bar and lounge if you need a quick bite or a drink. Multimedia tours are provided to each guest — the tour is complimentary with admission to the observation deck and is available in four languages: English, French, Mandarin and German. Don’t miss it in your Calgary Airport rental car!

Calgary Zoo
As the second largest zoo in Canada, the Calgary Zoo was named Canada’s top zoo by TripAdvisor in 2014. The zoo is home to almost 800 animals and 130 different species. Kids will love the animatronic dinosaur exhibit as well as the penguin area. Explore over 120 acres and six individual zones: Destination Africa, Canadian Wilds, Penguin Plunge, Dorothy Harvie Botanical Gardens and ENMAX Conservatory, Eurasia and Prehistoric Park. Open all year round except on Christmas Day, the Calgary Zoo is located just east of downtown, accessible in your Thrifty rental car via Memorial Drive on 1300 Zoo Rd NE.

Calaway Park
Just a six-mile drive west of the city in your Calgary Airport rental car, Calaway Park is Western Canada’s largest outdoor family amusement park. Located at 245033 Range Rd 33 in Springbank, the Park can be reached via the Trans-Canada Highway. Calaway Park features a variety of exciting rides, including a large log flume, Chaos and Storm and two of the park’s biggest attractions: The Vortex, a corkscrew roller coaster, and the Dream Machine, a 56-passenger swing ride. If your stomach needs a break, there are 24 child/family-friendly rides along with 22 food stalls and 27 games spread out over 90 acres
