See it All in Montreal from your Rental Car

On a massive island in the St. Lawrence River, you’ll find Quebec’s largest city. Tour the 19 boroughs of Montreal in your Thrifty rental car and discover amazing architecture, world-class restaurants, breathtaking parks, exciting sports teams and an extraordinary arts scene.

Parc du Mont Royale (Mount Royal Park)

Montreal got its name from this 761-foot hill that is the city’s largest park. The view of downtown from the park’s Kondiaronk Belvedere and the Chalet du Mont Royal is absolutely stunning. This iconic public space also features a sculpture garden, a lake, a ski slope and cross-country skiing trails. Two historic cemeteries are also part of the park.

Montreal Botanical Gardens

As you walk through the 10 sizeable, individually themed greenhouses, you’ll be amazed by the more than 26,000 species of flora. Relax and reflect among the bonsai trees in the Japanese Zen garden. Find peace in the Chinese Garden that highlights the ancient Ming Dynasty. You’ll also want to take in the beautiful outdoor gardens that are filled with colorful displays designed to spark the imagination.

Notre Dame Basilica

This iconic Gothic Revival style church is truly grand, with several religious statues and stained glass windows that depict scenes from Montreal’s religious history. As one of the most architecturally stunning churches in the world, it’s easy for one to get lost in its ornate details of intricate woodcarvings and the mesmerizing and colorful painted ceiling.

La Ronde Amusement Park

Drive your Thrifty rental car out to Quebec’s largest amusement park and enjoy the twists and turns of roller coasters and other wild rides. With something for visitors of all ages, the park also hosts many special events, including a summertime international fireworks competition.

Old Montreal

Here you will find the oldest area of Montreal, steeped in European charm. Stroll down cobblestone streets among the horse drawn carriages and see the most distinctive landmarks in Montreal, such as the town hall and Bonsecours Market. Quaint cafes and boutiques line the streets, along with old bank buildings, preserved colonial mansions, museums, churches and public spaces. Some of the buildings date as far back as the 1600s. Ironically, it is also a hub for today’s modern business.

Montreal Biodome

If you venture out to the Botanical Gardens in your Thrifty rental car, be sure to stop next door at the Montreal Biodome. Here you can tour four different ecosystems, including a polar area, a tropical rainforest, a Laurentian forest and the St. Lawrence marine setting. You’ll see all the awe-inspiring elements of nature that come with these ecosystems, such as the adorable animals. And here’s a fun fact: the Biodome is housed in a former Olympic bicycle-racing stadium.
