Take a drive to Indianapolis

While Indianapolis is located in the Midwest, you don't have to worry too much about the climate being super cold. This city boasts the most hotel rooms accessible by climate-controlled skywalks in anywhere in the U.S. It's also home to the world's largest retractable roof, located at Lucas Oil Stadium. Visit these three exciting destinations to fly through the trees, watch the Colts and learn about Indianapolis history:

Lucas Oil Stadium
Drive your Indianapolis rental car to 500 South Capitol Avenue to see the Indianapolis Colts National Football League team play at home. The retractable roof at this stadium is the first of its kind, a SuperFrame Structural System. The Colts decide if the roof will be open or closed 90 minutes before the game. If it rains or the conditions become hazardous (wind, temperatures below 40 degree Fahrenheit) the roof will close automatically. Before this facility was built in 2008, RCA Dome resided on the premises. Lucas Oil Stadium is connected to the Indiana Convention Center and 12 hotels through a pedestrian walkway so you can easily travel between these attractions. The size of the stadium seating can total up to 70,000 fans, but a system of curtains allow this number to change to reflect the needs of each particular event. Basketball games and both indoor and outdoor concerts occur here as well as the Colts football games.

Go Ape Treetop Adventure Course
Some people think that Indiana is only a place for manufacturing and industry. There are, however, some great opportunities for adventure! Head to 5901 Delong Road to EagleCreek Park where you can "go ape!" You'll zipline through the gorgeous Midwestern trees on a canopy tour. You'll also need to do some log balancing, play tic-tac-toe and even try a Tarzan swing! This exciting course is located 20 minutes from downtown Indianapolis. You'll want to wear close-toed shoes and bring a camera to capture the grins on your family's faces as you climb, swing and fly through the forest with Go Ape Treetop Adventures. You will need two to three hours to complete the entire course. All equipment (harnesses, carabiners and pulleys) is supplied once you arrive, so don't worry about procuring your own. Individuals ages 10 and up who are at least 4 feet 7 inches tall may participate.

White River State Park
Drive your Indianapolis rental car to 801 West Washington Street to this 250-acre urban escape. Here you'll find something to do for every member of your household. White River State Park features the Museum of American Indians and Western Arts Indian Market. There are free performances of Shakespeare plays on the Canal and there are plenty of green spaces for dog walking, Frisbee throwing and picnics. There is also an Imax Theater, the Indian State Museum and the National Collegiate Athletic Association Hall of Champions where you can pretend you're a student athlete! Be sure to check out the fascinating animals at the Indianapolis Zoo while you're here. All of these great things to see are found within the park!
