Have some coastal fun in San Diego

Are you a fan of guacamole? San Diego California grows the most avocados of anywhere in the U.S. It also has near-perfect weather, with an average summer temperature around 71 degrees Fahrenheit and winter temperature around 57 degrees Fahrenheit. Visit this great city to see what else it has to offer.

Petco Park
Drive a San Diego rental car to Petco Park at 100 Park Boulevard to catch a San Diego Padres Major League Baseball game. This stadium opened in 2004 and was built specifically for the Padres. Before Petco Park, the team shared Jack Murphy Stadium with the San Diego Charger National Football League team. The new facility was set to be completed by 2002 but funding delays pushed back the construction. In January 2003, Petco Animal Supplies Inc, bought the naming rights to the field for the next 22 years for $60 million. Be sure to bring sunscreen when you visit this open-air stadium. Not only do attendees have a gorgeous view of the game and all that's happening in the park, they can also see downtown San Diego and the bay. Grab your glove and don your midnight blue and white Padres gear to catch a baseball game at this California field.

Torrey Pines Gliderport
If you've always wanted to have wings, this is the activity for you. Head to Torrey Pines Gliderport at 2800 Torrey Pines Scenic Drive in La Jolla to experience the coastal cliffs from a hang glider. Just call the company on the morning of your flight to check on wind conditions and, if they give the all-clear, head to the hanger. Once there, you'll sign some paperwork making yourself a temporary member of the U.S. Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association. Then you'll meet your pilot, talk safety and get strapped to your USHPA-certified professional tandem pilot. The pilot will get you all situated and up into the air you'll fly. Enjoy the 20 to 25 minute flight over the coastal cliffs of Torrey Pines. You'll see the stunning coastline, nearby Torrey Pines Golf Course and have a great view of some massive mansions. Your instructor will help you to land right where you took off, or at close-by Black's Beach. Be sure to wear comfortable clothing and sneakers. You may also consider bringing a light jacket because the weather on the coast is usually cooler and wetter than it is inland. This is a an unforgettable experience with an incredible view that almost anyone would enjoy, regardless of age or fear of heights.

La Jolla Cove
Do you enjoy water activities like snorkeling, swimming and scuba diving? If so, you'll love La Jolla Cove. Drive your San Diego rental car to Goldfish Point and head to this gorgeous area. It's an excellent place for divers and people who enjoy snorkeling because you can see up to 30 feet below the water, making for a clear view of the fish and wildlife found here. The cove is part of the San Diego La Jolla Underwater Park Ecological Reserve. The marine life here is protected, so fishing and other removal of objects from the area is against the law. Pack a lunch and enjoy a picnic on land after all your fishy fun. There's also a shower to clean up in after spending time in the ocean. Just remember to bring sunscreen and drinking water to protect you from UV rays and dehydration. Keep your eyes peeled on the way to and from the cove - you just might spot a harbor seal swimming or basking in the sun.
