Oklahoma Car Rental - Oklahoma Rental Cars

At first glance, Oklahoma may seem like nothing more than a dry and dusty Old West state, but look under the surface, and you will find that there are plenty of unique travel options in the Sooner State once you land at either Tulsa International Airport or OKC-Will Rogers International Airport.

These two cities have all of the friendliness you’d expect from small-town living, but still boast a ton of cosmopolitan adventures, giving you the best of both worlds. Hop in your Thrifty car rental to check out everything that Tulsa and Oklahoma City have to offer during your Oklahoma vacation.

Tunes and more in Tulsa

Tulsa boasts one of the most underrated music scenes in the country. This city really knows how to put on a show, especially with excellent venues like Cain’s Ballroom (locals simply call it Cain’s) - where you can listen to everything from post punk to country under one roof. The Brady Theater is your more mainstream option, featuring past performers like U2, the Deftones and Tenacious D.

If you like quirky historical sites, you must see the Golden Driller, a giant statue of an oil rig and driller located near the Tulsa County Fairgrounds that pays homage to the city’s oil boom period. Are you a fan of vino? One of Tulsa’s best kept secrets is its fantastic young vine collection, including Stone Bluff Cellars and The Grape Ranch.

One neighborhood where you can really do it all is Brookside, which boasts many of Tulsa’s locally owned shops and restaurants. If you are bringing the kids along, be sure to take them to Weber’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers for a locally brewed root beer.

The Wild West comes Alive in Oklahoma City

You can also dive right into the American West in Oklahoma City at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. This space recognizes the unique spirit of cowboys as well as Native Americans through fine art, pop culture, historical artifacts and one-of-a-kind exhibitions.

If you consider yourself more of a sports fan, the Remington Park Racing Casino features live racing, with American quarter horse season from March to May and thoroughbred season from August to December.

The most powerful site in town has to be the Oklahoma City National Memorial, which is a beautiful 30,000-foot green space dedicated to the Americans who lost their lives during the 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building.
