Cheer on the Jacksonville Jaguars

Jacksonville Florida, also known as "Jax," is the largest city in the continental U.S. It spans over 840 square miles and is full of scenic coastal areas, marshes and more. There is something for each member of your family to enjoy in this expansive city. Check out these attractions to see local and not-so-local wildlife and catch a football game:

Crazy Fish Cafe
Not only can you eat amazing lobster, oysters and other seafood at this Jacksonville Beach restaurant, they also offer adventure tours. Hop on an airboat tour for an hour to see the beautiful Intracoastal Waterway and the creatures that call it home. You might spot:

  • Marsh birds
  • Eagles
  • Porpoises
  • Manatees
  • Alligators

You can also rent kayaks and take your own tour of the local flora and fauna. If you'd rather have a guide to teach you kayaking basics, or teach you about the area wildlife and habitat, try a guided kayak tour.

The cafe also has a fishing charter that takes you out to sea to catch flounder, bluefish, jacks, trout and other local fishes. Drive your Jacksonville rental car here and you just might catch your own dinner!

The Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary
If your family likes big cats this is the place for you! Catty Shack is a wildlife sanctuary that takes in endangered animals and gives them a home forever. It's a nonprofit organization that works to encourage habitat preservation and conservation to support the survival of big cats. Here, you can see:

  • Lions
  • Tigers
  • Cougars
  • Bobcats
  • Leopards
  • Arctic Foxes
  • Coatimundis

If you like stripes, check out the cheese trio: Monterey, Colby and Brie, Siberian tigers that came to the sanctuary in 2013 from a zoo in Wisconsin. Visit the jaguars to meet Two White, Khala Hala and their parents, B.J. and Skywalker.

Come during the day for a tour of the facilities to learn about the animals and their habitats and hear personal stories about the sanctuary's animal residents. Most of the cats are nocturnal so they will likely be asleep if you visit during the day.

Take a nighttime feeding tour to see them in action, eating, swimming and playing together. They'll even watch the visitors! People up to 5 miles away have heard the lions roaring during an exciting feeding. They're a chatty bunch when food is involved. Be sure to check the Catty Shack Ranch calendar to see what tour time best suits your trip.

EverBank Field
This stadium was called the Jacksonville Municipal Stadium until 2010, when EverBank bought the naming rights for the next five years. The first time a team set foot in the facility was for the first preseason game of 1995. At the time, it was the fastest built major-league stadium in North America, taking only 19.5 months from start to finish.

The current building is on top of where Gator Bowl used to sit. EverBank Field underwent a $63 million renovation prior to hosting the 2005 Super Bowl. The Bud Light Party Zone sports bar, MPS Group Terrace Suite, Sky Patio, 20 escalators, and four elevators were added to the facility to accommodate the major influx of fans for the upcoming Super Bowl.

At the same time, the Jacksonville Jaguars National Football League team, who call this stadium home, turned their old practice fields into a 400,000-square-foot entertainment area for pre- and post-game fun like tailgating.

Currently the stands can hold over 82,000 people. It's easy to spot this team running up and down the field in their teal and gold uniforms. Drive your Jacksonville rental car to EverBank Field to root for the Jaguars.
