Spring into Cancun Vacation Planning

Whether you’re looking for a great place to spend Spring Break or somewhere to bring your family to escape the cold weather, Cancun is your go-to vacation destination for just about anything. The city was founded as a tourism project, mainly because of its beautiful white sand beaches, virgin forests and untouched coral reefs. Today you’ll find thousands of hotel, restaurant and nightclub options with something for just about everyone in the family. And your Cancun rental car is the perfect way to see and do it all.

Chichen Itza

The largest and most prominent Mayan ruins are found here in Chichen Itza, located on the outskirts of Cancun — a 129 mile drive in your Thrifty rental car. But it’s well worth the trip. See what life was like in Mexico over 3,000 years ago. The Mayans were arguably the most sophisticated civilization of their era with advancements in math, science and astronomy that boggle the minds of modern scientists.

Xel-Ha

Snorkel with hundreds of colorful tropical fish in Xel-Ha, an aquatic theme park located 62 miles away from Cancun Airport in trendy Riveria Maya. The drive itself is known to be very relaxing, so load your family into your Cancun rental car and head outside the city for a day of fun in the sun. Xel-Ha situated around a natural lagoon fed by a fresh water stream. The fresh water combines with the salty water of the sea to make a very hospitable living space for sea life. Tourists are amazed by the rainbow of underwater life — from coral formations to sea turtles, dolphins and more.

Extreme Zipline Canopy Tour

Soar through the jungles of the Mayan Riveria in the most thrilling way possible — on a zip line. Actually, it’s twelve zip lines, to be more accurate, that cover a distance of approximately two miles. You can expect to see lush vegetation, wild animals and naturally formed waterholes. According to some tourists, the most challenging part of the tour is trying to contain your excitement in the 26-mile commute from Cancun International Airport.

The Scenic Tower

Standing over 360 feet tall on a pencil-thin base is the Scenic Tower, a place to get a birds-eye view of the city. You have your choice to take the stairs all the way to the top — 240 feet in the air — but the best way is to take the large, round elevator that gradually rises and rotates its way to the top. At night the structure is lit up to resemble a local Mayan flower. Make sure you look at the street when you get to the very top. That pea-shaped hunk of metal at the bottom will likely be your Cancun rental car.
