Lots of Sun to Soak up in Your Kissimmee Rental Car

The city of Kissimmee, Florida, is located in Osceola County, near the intersection of U.S. Highway 17/92 and U.S. Highway 192. A quaint characteristic about this city is the lack of any big skyscrapers; most of the buildings are two or three stories high. If you’re cruising through the city in your Kissimmee rental car, you might want to visit Gatorland, Legoland Florida and the Holy Land Experience.

Gatorland
Located at 14501 S Orange Blossom Trail, Gatorland is a short drive in your Kissimmee rental car. The 110-acre theme park and wildlife preserve is often called the "Alligator Capital of the World," featuring thousands of alligators and crocodiles, a breeding marsh with boardwalk and observation tower, reptile shows, aviary, petting zoo, swamp walk and educational programs. Founded in the 1949 by Owen Godwin, Gatorland is known for buying and rescuing nuisance alligators from trappers that would otherwise be killed for their meat and skin. The park was even used in the filming of the 1984 movie Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. One of the newest attractions here is a 1,200-foot-long zip line that travels across a pool of alligators and past several of the existing attractions.

Legoland Florida
To revisit your inner child, a stop by Legoland Florida in your Thrifty rental car is a must. Located in the nearby town of Winter Haven, this theme park opened in 2011 and covers 145 acres, making it the second-largest Legoland park after Legoland Windsor in the UK. The park was built on the former site of Cypress Gardens theme park and preserved the botanical park, as well as redecorating the water park and roller coasters in a Lego theme. Legoland is perfect for families with small children, preferably ages two to 12. With more than 45 rides, the park features a variety of shows, restaurants, shops and a water park. There is also a hotel on the property if you want to extend your time at the park.

Holy Land Experience
For a different take on the tourist experience in Central Florida, The Holy Land Experience offers visitors a Christian-themed park. Inside the park, you’ll find recreations of the architecture and themes of the ancient city of Jerusalem in 1st century Judea. Owned and operated by Trinity Broadcasting Network, the Holy Land Experience features over 40 exhibits, including several restaurants and retail shops. Some of the most popular exhibits include a stone arch modeled after the Damascus Gate and Jaffa Gate of Jerusalem, the Temple Plaza, the world’s largest indoor model of Jerusalem and The Jesus Boat (a replica of a boat found in the Sea of Galilee, dating back to the time of Christ). Located at 4655 Vineland Rd., the Holy Land Experience is a short drive north in your Thrifty rental car.
