Tallahassee, Florida: Rattlers, Batman and laser tag

During the Civil War, Tallahassee, Florida, was the only Confederate capital east of the Mississippi that remained unchanged throughout the conflict. It was never seized by Federal troops, and its landscape is much the same today as it was back then. The original capitol building is available for tours and is a great place to visit for Civil War buffs! Have some Florida fun when you drive your Tallahassee rental car to these great places:

Bragg Memorial Stadium
J.B. "Jubie" and his father, Eugene Bragg, coached the Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University football team in the 1930s and 1940s, and they are considered to be the fathers or Rattlers football. The school was originally called the State Normal College for Colored Students. It started with 15 students and two instructors and has grown to 11,000 students and over 700 faculty members. This primarily black school was detrimental in the boycott that led Tallahassee buses to racially integrate in 1956. Two FAMU students refused to sit in the "blacks" section of the bus and, when they were kicked off, the student body boycotted the entire bus system. The students gained the attention and support of Tallahassee citizens and the "whites only" section was removed. Tallahassee Automobile and Collectibles Museum
Classic car fans have enjoyed this Florida museum since its opening in 1996. It started as 15 automobiles and today houses more than 140, from a 2010 Camero that has been customized to resemble a Pontiac Trans Am to an 1860 horse-drawn funeral hearse that is rumored to have carried the body of President Abraham Lincoln. Batman fans will love the museum's Batmobiles, from "Batman Returns", "Batman Forever" and even the Batcycle from the 1960's television series. The facility also houses collectibles like Steinway pianos, telephones, typewriters, sports memorabilia and slot machines. Spend some time perusing history when you drive your Tallahassee rental car to this treasure trove.

Fun Station
Date night can get boring if you do the same things over and over. Spice it up with the plethora of games and activities at Fun Station! Break out your mini-golfing skills on one of two 18-hole courses. Relive your high school baseball or softball days in the batting cages where pitches range from slow-pitch softball to 40-70 miles per hour. There's also laser tag, go-karts and an arcade.
