Standup, Stanford!

Looking to get lost in a maze, cheer for the Cardinals, and have some peaceful, quiet moments? Grab a San Jose rental car and do just that!

Stanford Stadium
This state-of-the-art facility was built in 2006 on the site of the original stadium, where Herbert Hoover gave his 1928 presidential nomination acceptance speech. You're sure to find a great view in one of the 50,000 seats, seven luxurious Skybox suites, or 400 director's level spots. In their cardinal red and cool grey it is easy to spot Stanford athletes pounding down the field in search of a touchdown. Dust off your foam finger and join in singing the Cardinal's fight song, "Come Join the Band."

The Winchester Mystery House
When the Boston Medium tells you to build a house to confuse the spirits that haunt you do what he says. Sarah Winchester was told to start, and never stop, building a home to house the spirits that plagued her and may have caused the deaths of her infant daughter and, 15 years later, her husband. It is clear she took the medium's advice to heart in her now famous Santa Clara Valley home. Drive your San Jose rental car here to wander the massive house of mystery. You will see the 47 fireplaces, parquet floors, Tiffany art glass windows, silver-plated chandeliers, and all the glory of Queen Anne Victorian architecture. The spirits Mrs. Winchester was convinced were haunting her were said to be anything from Native Americans to the people who had been killed by the family's claim to fame: the Winchester Rifle. Be sure to have a buddy for this exciting tour, people have been known to linger too long and become separated from the group for hours in this miles long maze of a mansion.

The Chinese Cultural Garden
If you're looking for some peace and tranquility head to this 6-acre section of Overfelt Gardens. The park was inspired by Frank and Pauline Lowe, Chinese Americans who wished to deepen the understanding between Eastern and Western societies. Take a tour past the statue of Confucius, one of the most influential teachers of Chinese society. You will also pass the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall. This structure was a gift from the Republic of China in Taiwan and houses a bronze statue of the founding father of China's modernization, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen. Another feature of the tour is The Black Stone, a 15-ton, million-year-old stone carved with the Chinese characters for loyalty. The garden hosts opera, the Chinese Moon Festival, and educational classes about Chinese culture. Stop by to attend an event and take a walk through this lush, tranquil garden.
