Enjoy yourself in sunny Arizona

Tucson is the sunniest city in the country, with an average of 350 days of sunlight per year. Now that sounds like a place to take a vacation! There is a lot to do in this beautiful city. Check out these attractions for some Arizona fun:

Arizona Stadium
Drive your Tucson rental car to 545 National Championship Drive in the heart of Tucson to visit Arizona Stadium. When the facility opened, there were only 7,000 seats. Today, over 56,000 seats are available with an uninterrupted view of the field. Over half of the seats allow views of the Santa Catalina Mountains and the campus and city skyline. Many attendees of games choose to tailgate or take part in a Fan Fiesta before cheering on the University of Arizona Wildcats football team. The biggest crowds here were for games against UA's main rival, Arizona State. Visit the 420-foot-long Ring of Fame on the facade of the skyboxes on the west side of the stadium to honor former players who made it to All-America teams, players who ranked nationally in statistics or national players of the year. Don your cochineal red and Arizona blue and head to Tucson to cheer for the Wildcats.

Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum
You've never been to a museum like this! About 85 percent of it is outdoors! The grounds covers 21 acres, including 16 gardens, 2 miles of walking paths, 56,000 plants and 1,200 native plant species. If animals are your thing, check out the animal collection of 230 native mammals, amphibians, reptiles, birds and insects. There's even a hummingbird aviary with multiple species of the tiny bird. Visit the Earth Sciences Center and you'll find yourself in an underground cave that has one of the world's most complete collections of regional minerals. There's even a moon rock that NASA has loaned the museum! There are a lot of fossils and skeletons of animals here, but there are also live animals. Check out the "Live and (sort of) on the Loose" show to learn about venomous reptiles. During the summer check out "Raptor Free Flight," a show about native raptor species called the Harris' Hawk. There is so much to see here you may need to spend the whole day! The museum is open daily, year round and the hours change with the seasons. Be sure to check the website to see what exciting happenings are going on when you plan to visit!

Pima Air & Space Museum
If you like space or airplanes, this is the museum for you! It's the largest privately-funded nongovernmental aerospace museum in the world. Regular admission will get you access to the Arizona Aviation Hall of Fame, the 390th Memorial Museum, The Main Hanger, two World War II hangers, the Space Gallery, two docent-led walking tours and access to over 150 planes that are outdoors! That's an awful lot of aerospace history and technology! It is recommended that visitors plan to spend three to four hours at the museum to fully take in all five hangers and the 80 acres worth of exhibits. If you want to feel like a pilot head to the Quail kit plane, a real Boeing 720 cockpit simulator in the Main Hanger. There are also several other cockpits spread throughout the facility, from World War II and other time periods. If all that walking and learning makes you hungry, head to the Flight Grill where you can eat a burger or salad on the patio overlooking the nearby mountains and see aircraft landing and taking off across the street at the Davis Monthan Air Force Base. Drive your Tucson rental car to this museum and you'll have a new-found appreciation for all things flight!
