Follow the path to Pittsburgh

Musicians Christina Aguilera, and Henry Mancini as well as Pulitzer Prize winner Annie Dillard and famous choreographer/dancer Gene Kelly are all from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Another famous Pittsburgh-er is the Klondike Bar which was invented here in 1929. They only cost a nickel back then. Visit the city to have the famous treat in its city of origin and check out these exciting diverse attractions:

Heinz Field
Are you a fan of the University of Pittsburgh Panthers or Pittsburgh Steelers National Football League team? Drive your Pittsburgh rental car to this 1.49 million square foot stadium to see your favorite team in action. There are 65,500 spots to sit at this facility, spread between the regular, club and suite seating. The actual field is just over 2 acres and made of four kinds of Kentucky Bluegrass. Underneath the grass is 40 miles of piping that heats the soil, allowing it to properly drain and withstand the irrigation needed to keep it in top condition for the games played on it. As you walk through the stadium you can see 60 murals from high schools in the area that have won a City League Football Championship or Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League Championship. The giant ketchup bottles flanking the scoreboard are exact replicas of the glass ones you may have in your refrigerator. They are 35 feet tall and weigh four tons each. Now that's a lot of ketchup!

Trundle Manor
Get your weird on and visit this self-claimed "art house/tourist trap" full of bizarre items. We're talking medical implements, wacky weaponry, taxidermy animals and specimens in jars. This interesting attraction is an artist's residence and the things you can see here are always changing. Everything in the manor was once a part of a private collection but is now available for public viewing. The Secret Society of Odd Acquisition calls this house their home and is curated by Mr. Arm and Velda Von Minx. Tours last around 45 minutes and should be reserved one week ahead of time to be sure that you can wander the spooky halls when you'd like to. If you like horror movies this is the perfect place to see a ton of creepy eclectic stuff akin to the terrifying props in your favorite scary movies.

Friday Nite Improvs
Ever wanted to be a part of a comedy show? Drive your Pittsburgh rental car to the Studio Theater at the Cathedral of Learning on 5th Avenue for some serious laughs. Every Friday at 11 p.m. there is an improvisational comedy show for just $3. The best part? The entire show involves the audience. There is no core group of professional comedians leading the show, the entire cast is picked from the audience. If you'd rather just watch you're welcome to, the improv players are chosen from those who are raising your hands. Don't worry though, the number one rule of the theater is that failure is OK. The show was originally developed as a workshop for people looking to get into improvisation. Soon the popularity of the show overpowered the teaching opportunity and it became a form of entertainment as education for the entire audience. FNI is Pittsburgh's longest running improv show. Let's just say they know what they're doing.
