Take a hike in Phoenix, Arizona

Phoenix gets an average of 211 sunny days a year, with temperatures of 100 degrees Fahrenheit and above during the summer months. If you like dry heat and taking part in outdoor activities, you'll enjoy spending time in Arizona. Check out these attractions to take advantage of the beautiful weather and spend some time in nature:

Chase Field

Drive your Phoenix rental car to 401 East Jefferson Street, and you can watch the Arizona Diamondbacks Major League Baseball team in action. This stadium opened in 1998 as the Bank One Ballpark. It was renamed in September 2005 and holds a total of 48,633 people in the stands. When you visit this facility, notice that the roof is retractable, allowing for comfortable viewing of games in all weather conditions. The home of the Diamondbacks is the only MLB stadium that has a pool. It even has a hot tub and is staffed with a lifeguard. Visit the APS Solar Pavilion to get some shade under the 17,280-foot solar panels. They generate 75 kilowatts of power, or enough to completely fuel the electricity for 8-10 homes. Once on the pavilion, you can enjoy exhibits about renewable energy, recycling, electric vehicles and energy efficiency. When you get hungry, take a stroll to the concession stand area. It covers almost a quarter of a mile and hosts Cold Stone Creamery, Panda Express, Mrs. Fields, Subway and other popular eateries. The Arizona sun gets pretty warm so be sure to drink plenty of water and apply sunscreen when you visit this field.

Rappel Arizona

Looking to get your adrenaline rushing and see the Phoenix area from a high vantage point? Rappel Arizona takes people out rock climbing and rappelling and on zip line adventures. You'll strap on a helmet and harness and glide down the 400-foot zipline and ropes course where you will have a gorgeous view of the surrounding Sonoran desert. For a longer trip, spend half a day rappelling down rock cliffs and enjoying the thrill of being on top of the world. Lunch is offered as an extra, and visitors are encouraged to bring cameras to capture their exciting adventures. All safety equipment is provided and everyone is trained on procedure before partaking in the activity. Certified staff members are on hand at all times to belay the safety ropes attached to each customer.

Phoenix Zoo

The Phoenix Zoo is located at 455 North Galvin Parkway. Drive your Phoenix rental car here to see over 1,400 animals. Of the residents living here, 30 are endangered or threatened. You can see African lions, monkeys and Galapagos tortoises here, as well as other non-native species like Komodo dragons, Grevy's zebras and Arabian Oryx. Zookeepers try to keep these animals entertained by providing them enrichment items. Giant blocks of ice with fruit in them are popular among the tigers and bears, and many of the critters enjoy giant ball toys to play with in the water or on land. You're sure to fall in love with an interesting creature at this zoo.
