Visit famed Pike Place in a SeaTac rental car

The city of Seatac is located in southern King County, Washington, and is an outlying suburb of Seattle, Washington. It is 10 square miles in area. If you’re flying into SeaTac International Airport, pick up a Thrifty rental car before you head out to see what the city has to offer.

Pike Place Market

Cast a line and see what you catch at this world-famous fish market. The market is located in the waterfront area of Seattle, overlooking the Elliott Bay. Pike Place Market is one of the oldest continuously operated public farmer’s markets in the United States — starting way back in 1907. Here, you can find a variety of farmers, craftsmen and merchants, all selling their goods and wares in a lively, waterfront atmosphere. To get to the market in your Thrifty rental car, you'll find Pike Place northwest from Pike Street and Virginia Street. This destination is Seattle's most popular tourist attraction and is the 33rd most visited tourist attraction in the world. This market allows consumers a unique experience to “Meet the Producer” — from fishmongers to local farmers.

EMP Museum

The Experience Music Project Museum is just a short drive from the airport in your Seatac rental car. Founded by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen in 2000, this museum is dedicated to contemporary popular culture. It features dozens of exhibits, 17 of which have toured across the U.S. and internationally. Every year, the museum presents the Science Fiction and Fantasy Short Film Festival, which takes place every winter at Seattle Cinerama Theater. Visitors can view a variety of interactive activity stations, sound sculptures and various educational resources. Experience what it's like to perform rock n’ roll music before a virtual audience. Or, get a look at a guitar sculpture made of more than 500 musical instruments and 30 computers. Then, tour the largest collections of rare artifacts, hand-written lyrics, personal instruments and original photographs in the world — all celebrating the music and history of Seattle's native musicians like Nirvana and Jimi Hendrix.

Tillicum Village

Just a short drive out of the city of Seattle in your Thrifty rental car, you'll find Tillicum Village on Blake Island. The Village is believed to date back to just before the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. This museum features a scenic cruise from Seattle's central waterfront aboard a passenger vessel operated by Argosy Cruises. You’ll also be greeted by Tillicum Village employees wearing Northwest Coastal Native tribal costumes. To take part in the exploration, you’ll be given a cup of clams and broth to set up the next exhibit. Discover the ornate cooking display of salmon cooking on cedar stakes over an alder wood fire in a traditional style of Northwest Coastal Natives. Then, take part in a buffet-style meal of the freshly prepared salmon. Finally, enjoy a performance of traditional stories, dances and songs of Northwest Coastal Native groups.
