Little Rock, AR, USA

Go see Arkansas

With over 9,700 acres of rivers and streams and more than 600,000 acres of lakes, it's no wonder why this stunning state is nicknamed  "The Natural State". Whether you're a film-buff, history fan or outdoors person, Arkansas has something for you! Drive your Little Rock car rental to any of these fantastic places for a great getaway:

War Memorial Stadium

Opened in 1948, this field was built to honor the state's soldiers who died during World War l and World War ll. Originally there was no seating on the South and North sides, but that soon changed and seats were added as the fan base grew. Today, you can grab a spot in any of over 54,000 seats. More than 200 University of Arkansas Razorback football games have been held here, including the famous 2002 duel with rival Louisiana State University. Arkansas broke the tie late in the fourth quarter and went on to win 21-20, earning "The Boot", a trophy passed between the two teams as their rivalry continues. You can also catch Arkansas State University and the University of Central Arkansas games here.

Lake Catherine State Park

Amid the Ouachita Mountains, this 1,940-acre lake has 20 gorgeous log cabins available to visitors from near and far. Campers and those who prefer a solid roof over their heads will all find spots to gather here. Rent a boat at the marina and head out for a day of fishing or just plain relaxing. If you get tired of the water head to Falls Branch Trail, Horseshoe Mountain Trail and Dam Mountain Trail, all meandering past the waterfall at Falls Creek Falls. Lace up your hiking boots or throw on a bathing suit and you'll find a happy place in Lake Catherine State Park.

Old Mill

You'll know this location if you're a fan of the film "Gone With the Wind". Featured in the opening credits, the mill is a reproduction of a grist mill from the 1880s. There is no known reason why the director chose to feature this spot, but it is speculated that the builder of the mill, Justin Matthews, was friends with the mayor of North Little Rock at the time of filming and he nudged the camera crew in the mill's direction. Take your Little Rock car rental in this direction for a look at a scene in an American classic.
