Still not sure how Pay Now works? Skeptical about the sweet savings? No problem. It does sound a bit too good to be true.
Because we’re super helpful, here are some answers to FAQs about the prepaid savings as well as some additional terms and conditions. Does Thrifty offer a discount when I prepay for my rental car?
That’s what this page is all about! When you reserve your rental ahead of time and pay up front Thrifty offers you a prepaid rental car rate that’s lower than the base rental rate. Okay, there’s one condition. You have to make sure the name on the credit card used to pay matches the name on the reservation.
Why should I consider a prepaid car rental rate?
Isn’t it obvious? You’ll have more money for waffles! You’ll save up to 20% off the base rate of the rental, and you’ll save time at the reservation counter during pickup. It’s also worth mentioning that Pay Now rates are only for a limited time. Don’t sleep on the savings.
Can I use a debit card to prepay for my car rental?

Can I reserve a prepaid rental car for someone?
That would be really nice of you, but unfortunately, you can’t. It’s gotta be for you. That’s because you need to provide the same credit card you used to pay for the online reservation, as well as a valid driver's license. And the credit card has to be in your name and presented at the time of rental.
Once proof of this card has been provided, Thrifty can accept any other valid credit card in your name at the time of rental for taxes, fees, and incidentals.
Is there a cancellation fee if I cancel my prepaid booking?
Any changes to the reservation can affect rental charges.
• Cancel w/in 24 hours of booking: NO FEE
• Cancel more than 24 hours before pickup: $100
• Cancel less than 24 hours before pickup: $200
• No Show: Total Prepaid Amount
If the customer doesn’t cancel the reservation prior to the time of pick-up and the rental vehicle isn’t picked up on the rental date, the entire prepaid amount will be forfeited. You can make changes to your reservation at Thrifty.com using the "Modify/Cancel" option.
Are there any exclusions to Thrifty prepaid rental car rates?
The prepaid rate is basically just for the rental of the car. It doesn’t include vehicle licensing recovery fees, airport facility use fee/customer facility charges, hotel concession fees, other cost recovery fees, governmental surcharges, taxes, or other optional add-on items like child seats, luggage racks, refueling items, insurance, Thrifty Connect optional refueling, or one-way charges for which the renter may be responsible. And you can’t prepay for these services. If accepted, such services must be paid locally at the time of rental.
Can I get a refund or credit for unused rental days when I prepay for a rental car?
We don’t offer any refunds or credits for unused rental days when you choose the prepaid car rental option with Thrifty.
Can I combine prepaid rental car discounts with any other offers?
You can’t combine prepaid rates with any promotional offer, voucher, or certificate. It’s just this one great deal.
How do I make changes to my prepaid rental car reservation?
Any changes to your prepaid reservation have to be done at Thrifty.com using the "Modify/Cancel" option. Changes to your reservation may impact the rental charges (see the question regarding cancellation fees to learn more).
Can I add a CDP code when I check out for a prepaid rental car reservation?
Totally—add away! Just know there may be circumstances in which this CDP code is linked to a negotiated discount or a rate that doesn’t match Thrifty retail prepaid rates. When this happens, you’ll see an error message that says, “No prepaid available.” If that happens you can cancel the original reservation (see terms and conditions for Cancellations) and make a new reservation adding the CDP number.
