Dundurn Castle
As you drive your Hamilton rental car you won’t want to miss the spectacular sites of Dundurn Castle. It’s a historic neoclassical mansion that was completed in 1835 after taking three whole years to construct. It boasts 40 rooms, each carefully restored to the 1850s. It was home to former Canadian Prime Minister, Sir Allen MacNab. Here you can also tour the Hamilton Military Museum, which includes a slew of military memorabilia from several wars, including World War I and World War II. The lush grounds and gardens are quite popular for hosting different events.

The Royal Botanical Gardens
Be sure to visit Canada’s largest botanical gardens and see one of the largest freshwater marshland restoration projects of its kind in North America. It also features 31 trails through nature sanctuaries, many conservation projects and extensive horticulture exhibits that span 250 acres of cultivated gardens over 5 garden areas. On your journey through the gardens, you’ll see beautiful birds and butterflies and very rare species of flora. You can even do some canoeing through the pristine grounds for a different perspective.

African Lion Safari Park
Take your Hamilton rental car on a wild safari adventure. There are seven reserves where animals can come right up to your vehicle and say hello. You’ll see many different kinds of lions, as well as cheetahs, elephants, rhinos, baboons, camels and more. There is also a walking area where you can see many different kinds of birds and other interesting creatures. Kids will especially enjoy the close-up interactivity of the petting zoo.

Canadian Football Hall of Fame
Football fans will have a ball at this museum that celebrates one of Canada’s favorite sports, and its most legendary players and teams. Guests can view artifact collections that showcase more than 30,000 items, ranging from helmets to jerseys to photographs. While you’re taking it all in, don’t forget to try your luck at the interactive field goal-kicking exhibit and swing by the gift shop to load up on souvenirs.

McMaster Museum of Art
Affiliated with McMaster University, the museum showcases 6,000 pieces of art, including a large collection of 20th century German prints and European paintings. There is also an extensive collection of Canadian art. It’s an ideal place to learn, discover and relax during your visit to Hamilton.
